Latinos Locally
The 2010 census has proven once again the increase of the Latino and other minority populations in the United States of America; the Mohawk Valley is no exception to this increase.
The 85% Latino population growth is the biggest increase of any other ethnic contribution to the City of Utica’s population increase of 1,700 people, according the Utica Observer Dispatch.

FACTS:
Per the Mohawk Valley Latino Assocation, there are currently 50 small businesses owned by Latinos in the Utica area.
Mohawk Valley Latino Association has a children’s cultural dance group called Ritmo Caribeno that allows area Latino children to express themselves through dance and increase the awareness of the Latino population through youth. The group performs at nearly all MVLA events as well as traveling throughout the area to perform at community events.
